The Learning Strategies

According to Berry, Deshler and Schumaker,  "a learning strategy is an individual’s approach to a learning task. It includes how an individual thinks and acts when planning, executing, and evaluating performance on a task and its outcomes." (5)

Learning strategies can be divided into two types: Metacognitive strategies are useful across many different situations, from time management to keeping track of whether you are paying attention.   Specific learning strategies refer to skills used in more narrow context, although they often have metacognitive strategies contained within them.
